A skincare line that benefits animal welfare receives glowing reviews

When PRAI Beauty’s CEO & founder Cathy Kangas started the company in 1999, she did so with two visions: a company developing products for real women and a company that is passionate about giving back.

From moisturizers and serums to toners, cleaners and fragrance, PRAI Beauty products address multiple skincare concerns like lines, wrinkles, firming, aging and hydration. The PRAI Extract, its signature ingredient, was historically reserved for the Thai royal family and now reserved exclusively for PRAI Beauty, offering skin-smoothing and restorative benefits to customers around the globe, including celebrities and well-known makeup artists. Through its partnership with Home Shopping Network (HSN), PRAI has earned millions of new customers.

“The Prai Cosmetics product line is for real women over 40 that are looking for effective, innovative and luxurious skincare, that is affordable, while providing fast, visible results,” says Kangas.

The women that work for PRAI, including Kangas, are from the biggest beauty houses: Estée Lauder, Chanel, L’Oréal, Elizabeth Arden and Revlon, to name a few.

“We try to translate our experience into a company that can be purchased by all women,” says Kangas. “Additionally, we are Leaping Bunny Certified {meaning cruelty-free and not tested on animals] and devote a portion of every sale to helping animals in need through our PRAI for Paws campaign.”

prai_prai-group-of-8Kangas created PRAI’s philanthropic initiative, The Cathy Kangas Foundation for Animals, which dedicates a portion of PRAI’s sales to animal welfare organizations. PRAI Beauty donates $250,000 annually to animal charities across the globe. Kangas is also on the board of The Humane Society of the United States.

Locally, Kangas and her husband, Ed, played a large part recently in securing funding for SquirrelWood Equine Sanctuary (Montgomery, NY) by hosting a charity event at Le Cirque in Manhattan. The Kangases matched the donations, for a total of $300,000 to the sanctuary.
“My passion for animals has a global reach,” says Kangas. “When I hear of an organization in need, I try to help—in any way that I can.”
